Italian American Hall, Gretna


AIFEDSE 19th Biennial Convention will take place on Saturday, May 20 and Sunday, Sunday May 21, 2017 at the spacious Italian Hall in Gretna, Louisiana.  Location is directly across the Mississippi River from downtown New Orleans.   A slick Convention Magazine will be published containing a write-up on each AIFEDSE member organization, Italian Heritage, and ads placed by businesses and individuals and sponsors.

AIFEDSE member organizations delegates and members are invited to attend.  If you are traveling to the Convention, it is important to have your hotel/motel room reserve ahead of time since there are a lot of tourists in the New Orleans area.

Please forward this email to inform your members.  The Deadline for attendees for the American Italian Federation of the Southeast May 20-21 Convention is May 5th.  All Delegates, Member Organization Members desiring to attend, Guests, and AIFEDSE Officers must Register.  See the attached Registration Form.  This is necessary to have the proper food arrangements made for the dinners.
Guest Speakers and persons involved in dinner preparations need not register.

AIFEDSE Convention Magazine 2015 AD Examples  — As you will see some members donated money to their Member Organization Ad to honor their individual ancestors.

2017 AIFEDSE Convention Magazine Advertising AD Forms & Rates — View & Print or Save — 2017 AIFEDSE Convention Ads Sample Fundraiser Letter Any AIFEDSE Member Organization that places an Ad will receive 10 copies of the 2017 AIFEDSE Convention Magazine to be distributed to Officers and/or members.. Any individual or business that places an Ad will receive 1 copy of the 2017 AIFEDSE Convention Magazine. Each Magazine cost AIFEDSE $12 to produce previously. The Magazine includes some unusual historical articles on Italian Heritage and a write up on each AIFEDSE Member Organization. This will be a very slick publication by Get Graphics. Submit Ads before April 15th Some businesses are not allowed to place Ads for Fund Raisers and object to those words.  Those words have been removed from this Form 2017 AIFEDSE Convention Magazine Advertising AD Forms & Rates_minus Fund Raiser for your use.

To view each existing write-up on each AIFEDSE Member Organization go to . If the organization President does not submit a new write-up before April 1st to Victor Musso, the existing write-up will be published in the Magazine.

Any AIFEDSE Member Organization is entitled to provide 2 pages of photos for the Convention Magazine at no cost. These photos or snapshots can be of an organization’s event or function.  All photos must be captioned with all individuals shown first & last name.

2017 AIFEDSE Convention Program

The AIFEDSE Convention takes place on Saturday, May 20 and Sunday, May 21, 2017 at the spacious Italian American Hall in Gretna, Louisiana. Your Registration Fee covers all cost.

AIFEDSE member organizations delegates and members were invited to attend.

Saturday activities at the Italian American Hall in Gretna will include: Registration Sign in, Lunch, AIFEDSE Meeting-Nomination of 2017-2019 Officers, Election of 2017-2019 Officers, Guest Speakers and Evening Italian Dinner.

9:00 AM Registration starts, Coffee, hot chocolate, and donuts provided.

10:00 – 11:00 AM Welcome events, Silent Auction starts

11:00 – 1:00 PM American Italian Federation of the Southeast (AIFEDSE) Lunch and Hospitality

1:00 – 2:00 PM 2017 AIFEDSE Convention Saturday Guest Speaker Salvadore J. Serio, Curator of the American Italian Research Library. Subject “Una Storia Segreta”

2:00 – 3:00 PM AIFEDSE Meeting. Nominations for 2017-2019 AIFEDSE Officers, Election of Officers.

3:00 – 4:00 PM 2017 AIFEDSE Convention Saturday Guest Speaker Emily Ford is a New Orleans-based restoration mason, cemetery preservationist, and historian, owner of Oak and Laurel Cemetery Preservation, LLC. Subject: Historical Italian mausoleum and tomb restorations.

4:00 – 5:00 PM Wine Tasting

5:00 – 6:00 PM 2015 AIFEDSE Convention Saturday Guest Speaker Linda Serio.  Subject “Tour Bus Confessions: On the Road in Italy

6:00 PM American Italian Federation of the Southeast (AIFEDSE) Italian Dinner by Sam Matrana.

Sunday activities at the Italian American Hall in Gretna (except Mass) will include: Dinner, Live Entertainment, awards presented by member organizations, Swearing In of 2017 to 2019 Officers.

9:30 – 10:15 AM Mass will be available at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 610 6th Street in Gretna.

10:00 AM Registration Sign in, Silent auction continues. Coffee and pastries provided.

11:00 – 12:00 PM 2017 AIFEDSE Convention Sunday Guest Speaker Alessandro Steinhaus. Subject “Obtaining Dual Italian Citizenship.” Alessandro Steinhaus, attorney living and practicing in New Orleans, associated with the American Italian Cultural Center. From Italy he was with Milan law firms.

12:30 PM AIFEDSE Dinner.

Joe DeNone, American Italian Federation Convention Entertainer performs during Sunday Dinner. Joe will perform “A Heavenly Swinging Trip Down Memory Lane” in the style of Dean Martin, Bobby Darin, Frank Sinatra, and Louie Prima.

2:30 PM Swearing on of 2017-2019 Federation Officers. Presentation of any awards by member organizations to their members. Silent Action will end.

Linda Serio will open her Mercato Italiano on Sunday from 11AM till 3 PM. She sells items that she hand-carries back from her tours of Italy and Sicily. The collection includes Sicilian ceramic jewelry, aprons and other kitchen items, religious items, gift ideas and more. Cash or check only, please.
