Celebrate the Year of Italian Culture 2013

2013-anno-cultura-italiana”The Year of Italian Culture 2013” is an initiative by the Italian government to promote Italy’s innovative contributions to the world in science, technology and culture, through a program of events around the United States this year.   The program was officially launched in December 2012, at the National Gallery of Art, with the rare exhibition of Michelangelo’s David-Apollo statue. Other Italian masterpieces scheduled for U.S. exhibitions include Caravaggio’s “Raising of Lazarus” and Leonardo’s “Codex on the Flight of Birds.”   A selection from the Medici art collection will travel from Houston this year to Los Angeles; Collodi’s “Pinocchio” is already on a 14-city tour; and Verdi and Puccini will heard in concert halls across the country. The year-long series of events will also include performances and conferences focusing on literature, architecture, the sciences, design, fashion and food.
