A Benefit Dinner for Amatrice Earthquake Victims
Slow Food North Louisiana will host a fundraiser dinner on Saturday, August 5, 2017, at 6:00 pm at Taylortown Store Reception Hall to benefit victims of a series of earthquakes that have ravaged the Italian town of Amatrice over the last year. The August 2016 quake killed 300 people and destroyed thousands of homes and businesses. More than 45,000 aftershocks have since rattled the region, including a magnitude 6.6 quake in October, the biggest tremor to strike Italy for 36 years, and the most recent in January 2017.
Honoring Slow Food’s Italian heritage and in response to the call from Slow Food founder, Carlo Petrini, to Slow Food chefs and leaders to support relief efforts in Amatrice, Slow Food members Lynn Mandina and Vita Gregorio will prepare an Italian dinner featuring Bucatini All’Amatriciana, a pasta dish that originated in the Amatrice region, as well as other Italian recipes. Chef and Slow Food member Melissa Stewart of Now You’re Cooking will also be part of the cooking team.
Proceeds from the event will support relief efforts for Amatrice earthquake victims. Funds raised will be matched by Slow Food North Louisiana, and the Taylortown Store has graciously donated use of their space to assist with fundraising efforts.
Tickets: $75 general admission. Vegetarian option is available. Buy your ticket online today at this link. Sales end July 31.
**If you attempt to purchase tickets through the Brown Paper Tickets site using a phone or iPad and experience technical difficulty, try it on a computer.**
